Vokle FeatureBeat: Producer Role and Staff Chat

Until last week there wasn’t much of a choice – if you wanted complete control over an event you had to have your video broadcasted live as the Host. Enter Stephanie Bleyer, Associate Director of the No Impact Project, who along with Colin Beaven (the No Impact Man) hosted a week long series of Vokle events on the Huffington Post Green Section for the No Impact Challenge.
A couple days into the No Impact Challenge it became clear – at least to Stephanie – that there are instances in which it is advantageous for one person to produce the event while another person actually hosts. Thankfully she was brave enough to ask us for it, so that’s what we built for her: Producer Role. You have all the power of a Host, without any of the worries of being live.. you can sit back, relax and puppet maestro to your heart’s content.
Now if the person controlling the event isn’t being broadcasted it’s hard for them to coordinate with the rest of the event staff so we looked at the real world for inspiration. Unfortunately, the Secret Service ear piece method doesn’t really translate well when you think of disembodied voices interrupting speakers’ trains of thought – hell, Bush couldn’t even do it very well after years of practice. So we made Staff Chat, a hideable mini-chat window only available to the event’s staff
We’re also currently brainstorming ways to better get your feedback – so if you have any ideas let us know.
